Jera

The rune Jera is the twelfth rune in the Elder Futhark. Traditionally Jera refers to the year, more specifically the harvest. The 'harvest' can be seen in two ways, the simple act of picking your crop or the more involved reward of the entire process. You may reap your crop once a year, but you have no harvest if you do not plant in Spring, tend them through Summer, harvest them in Autumn and store the seeds for Winter. Jera represents the whole cycle: birth, growth, production, death and rebirth. Jera tells of rewards yet to come in the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical realms.

Why am I speaking on the subject of this rune? If you look at the position of the hands on this painting, they create the rune jera. The hands are those of my husband and I. Our lives are the year, we are born, we age, we mature (at times), we reap what we sew and when we have a child this cycle with be renewed. The four colors of the painting represent the cycle of four seasons, the four cardinal directions and the four elements.

Done in acrylic. Original is not for sale.
